ALL WEATHER WINDOWS WINS THE 2010 ENERGY STAR MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Energy Star Window Manufacturer of the year

Edmonton Company Receives Prestigious National Award

EDMONTON, AB June 15, 2010- Edmonton based All Weather Windows is the proud recipient of one of Canada’s most important industry awards, the 2010 Energy Star Manufacturer of the year award.

“It is heartening to be recognized by Energy Star for our dedication to producing environmentally friendly products. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our company. We are dedicated to preserving the environment and providing our customers with the highest quality products available,” said All Weather Windows CEO Gord Wiebe.

The Energy Star Manufacturer of the year award is one of the industry’s highest honours, recognizing products that meet or exceed Canadian energy efficiency standards. An Energy Star designation allows the recipient to place the Energy Star logo on their products for consumers to easily identify energy efficient products. Past recipients of this prestigious award include big name brand companies like Whirlpool Canada Inc.

“All weather windows has been in business for more than 30 years, always striving to manufacture the most durable windows and doors in the industry,” said Gord Wiebe.

All Weather Windows has shown that they have become industry leaders in both its lean manufacturing process and end product windows and doors – reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution without sacrificing the quality or diversity of their products.  All Weather Windows has a long-term commitment to producing products that are environmentally friendly and sustainable.

More than 95 per cent of All Weather Window’s product line is now Energy Star qualified. In 2009, the company manufactured 1,955 different Energy Star qualified products that are sold at more than 900 retail locations and through over 500 builders and contractors across Canada.

Edmonton based All Weather Windows was founded in 1978 and has grown from 9 employees to 800, with the majority of those employees based in Edmonton.

About Energy Star:

What is ENERGY STAR?
Energy Star Energy Star is a dynamic government/industry partnership that is expanding around the world. Hundreds of equipment manufacturers worldwide, as well as electric and gas utilities, product distributors/retailers and interest groups, are actively participating in the ENERGY STAR initiative, either by producing equipment that meets high energy efficiency specifications or by promoting the use of such equipment.

How do products qualify for the ENERGY STAR mark?
ENERGY STAR qualified products must meet and exceed minimum Canadian federal energy efficiency standards according to a prescribed performance level for each product area.

Why buy ENERGY STAR qualified products?
By choosing ENERGY STAR qualified products, buyers save energy and money on utility bills, reduce air pollution without sacrificing the features, versatility or style they expect from high-performing products.

Where to find ENERGY STAR qualified products?
ENERGY STAR qualified products are found in retailers' showrooms across Canada.  Consumers can look for the ENERGY STAR mark on product packaging, literature, product advertising and, of course, on the products themselves – in some cases, you may also find it on the EnerGuide label.

About All Weather Windows:
By combining a passion for the industry with a customer first philosophy, our partners have been able to guide All Weather Windows from a single 10,000 square foot facility to become Canada’s largest privately owned window and door manufacturer.

Starting in 1978 with just nine employees, founders Harry Buhler, Gord Wiebe, and Henry Banman, grew their business through honesty, integrity, hard work, and building a reputation one customer at a time. After just two years, the company had already outgrown their first plant and relocated to a larger 35,000 square foot manufacturing facility to accommodate the increasing sales.

In 1985, after just seven years of operations, the company now had 50 employees and moved to a new head office in Edmonton. The rapid grown continued unabated, and by 1988, sales had increased ten-fold since the first year of operations.

In the summer of 2007, All Weather Windows became truly coast-to-coast with the opening of an Atlantic Canada branch in Dartmouth Nova Scotia.

As All Weather Windows celebrated their 30th Anniversary in 2008, the entrepreneurial spirit and passion for customer service continued to guide the company. The partners have fostered a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and remained as committed to their traditional values of honesty and integrity as they were back in 1978.

Today, All Weather Windows has two state of the art manufacturing plants located in Edmonton, Alberta and Mississauga, Ontario with a combined LEAN Manufacturing capacity of almost 400,000 square feet. There are over 1,000 dealers across Canada that stock our windows and doors.

After years of research and development, All Weather Windows was proud in 2009 to be one of the first manufacturers in North America to introduce a revolutionary technology called V-weld. With this new technology, the window joints are welded together, virtually eliminating any air or water leaks.

The loyalty, hard work, and dedication of All Weather Windows’ staff, combined with the commitment of their customers, continues to make them Canada’s window and door provider of choice.

All Weather Windows – All Canadian made, for all Canadian weather.
